Outdoor swimming pool mayhem! With extreme weather warnings!

Outdoor swimming pools of all descriptions are set to take a bashing, report weather men across the UK, reports of snow in the hills could be a sign of a repeat winter following last season reports from our service swimming pool engineers are varied ranging from reports of branches and high leaf content both on top of outdoor swimming pool cover and underneath winter debris covers.

Our advice for outdoor swimming pool owners is to stay vigilant following a night of gusts heavy rain and snow! Checks could include visual inspection to debris on covers, under cover debris build up, and clearing leafs from swimming pool surrounds

Winter debris covers for swimming pool are still the UK’s no1 choice for general winterising however many pools constructed some 20 years ago are showing signs of wear and tear on the winter debris covers, Winter Debris covers take an awful lot of abuse during the winter periods with buffering from the wind, rain and then come under tension from snow and ice!

Self build is a term that has taken the home fix tag ‘DIY’ by storm Self build carries a larger responsibility with all the liability often on the ’self builder’ and swimming pools are no exception, we have experienced in 2010 28% of new build enquiry were in fact for self build swimming pools. And why not, there are now some excellent self build swimming pool kits on the market now offering the ’self builder’ ease of use, confidence backing and support often from a pool dealer when needed.

Which self build swimming pool kit to choose?

like anything the options and avenues are vast, and dependent upon your skill and ability anything is possible we would say a structure such as a tiled swimming pool would be left to absolute experts within the field such as Deep End Pools, however a simply sized average depth liner pool could be tackled by the self build swimming pool owner.

Which kit?

Block and Liner or Vycon swimming pool kit

Well none of the kits on the market leave any room for error so please do not become fooled to believe this is an easy task. Level plumb and square being the key as in any construction.

Block and liner self build swimming pools are becoming somewhat obsolete, history shows us these pools are often subject to cracks, blistered render sections and long term failure and require good clear weather conditions and skilled workmen, often the cheapest kit to buy off the shelf however often become the most expensive upon completion be warned!

Polymer panels self build pools

these kits really took the 90’s by storm replacing the old metal panel swimming pool kits across the country the benefits being speed non skilled labour build ability, longevity and being non susceptible to frost damage (this is key) Polymer panels often came in different sizes allowing you to be able to choose the pool size with ease, we suspect these systems built in and around the 90’s by good builders will be set for 30-40 years there in excess! Kits have historically been packaged extremely well some more than others, the down side of these kits in today’s market really only are oversized dig required, in turn potentially this means extra soil away and an increased amount of backfill is required in turn cost.

ICF self build insulated concrete formworks swimming pool

Build swimming pools as a self build option in the mid 00’s just got a whole lot easier! and as far as Deep End Pools is concerned this is the future in swimming pool construction ICF or insulated concrete formworks offer the ability for non skilled construction, long term finish not being susceptive to frost damage, light weight fast building methods Deep End Pools adopted ICF as its no1 choice for swimming pool construction in 2005, we have vast experience about what offers a good kit and what to avoid! But as a whole the self build swimming pool ICF kits are and will continue to be the future in swimming pool construction for many many years to come.

Insulated swimming pool panels

in the late 90’s a few companies came to market with metal panel systems backed with insulated fill, the self build kits offered in this market are extremely well marketed and brochures certainly look impressive however at Deep End Pools we still have a niggle that the system does not comprise of a polymer construction but instead metal, history has proven to the swimming pool contractor of past that metal in the ground corrodes! Whilst the metal panels are extremely well coated and offer good warranty we fear no one yet knows the long term implication of these systems in the ground we suspect a 25 year inspection some 15 years away will tell the tale of whether or not these system will be successful equally these systems certainly at the moment come at a huge premium however they do offer specific saving values and well supported and backed energy saving data so there is a lot to be said about this for the avid eco house builder requiring a self build swimming pool

So self build for 2011? Why not investigate the opportunity now with Deep End Pools as we could possible help aid and assist you with you self build swimming pool needs

A 9-year-old American boy is being praised for saving his 2-year-old brother’s life in a swimming pool accident in Illinois, thanks to a life-saving CPR class he had at school. Brave Logan Hearn stayed composed when his baby brother Brendan was found by their mum floating face-down in the family’s in ground swimming pool on Thursday night.

Logan and his 2 year old brother Brendan were inside their house on Thursday when their mum went outside. When she returned a moment later, Brendan had disappeared. “I noticed the door was ajar. I immediately ran outside. I just saw the dogs. I turned around. I went back in the house screaming to Logan, ‘Where is your brother?’ The first thing I thought after that is, he must be in the pool. I ran back outside, and that’s where I found him face down in the pool,” mother Tabitha Hearn told ABC News Chicago station WLS-TV.

The 2 year old had already turned blue in the when Tabitha Hearn grabbed him from the pool. Tabitha then called paramedics and, though she is trained in first aid, was in too much of a panic to help her son. Luckily, 9 year old Logan had just completed a CPR class and kept his cool. Logan told his mum that she was performing the CPR incorrectly, and told her to step out of the way.

“She was kind of getting a little crazy and stuff, at that moment because any parent would, you know. So, I just don’t think she had any control over what she was doing at the moment. So, I just kind of went in and moved her,” the Logan told the news channel.

He performed the CPR for two breaths, and stopped when Brendan started coughing up water. Soon his little brother’s chest started moving, and he was taking small breaths. ”

He did the procedure like it should be done, and it was working,” said Tabitha Hearn. Paramedics arrived shortly and took Brendan to the hospital. The toddler was unconscious at first but perked up when he saw his brother.

“And then when I came in, he just got right up and started talking, demanding our dog, Carly, a bottle and Elmo,” Logan said.

“Swimming Pool Summer” y0u say, This has been forecast by Positive Weather Solutions, who last summer predicted a wash-out, and have consistently out-forecast the Met Office over the last two years with a continuous accurate long-term predictions.

The prediction says average temperatures in June, July and August are on course to beat those of 1976, “The Only Proper Summer” and the hottest summer yet when temperatures exceeded 89.6f (32c) for 15 days from late June to early July.

This year a two-week spell at the start of August is expected to be hotter than the UK’s highest ever temperature, the 38.5c (101.3f) recorded at Brogdale, near Faversham, Kent, on August 10, 2003.

Positive Weather Solutions have said summer 2010 will break records as El Nino, which warms the Pacific Ocean, combines with the effects of the Atlantic jet stream weather pattern and the Azores high pressure region. Senior forecaster Jonathan Powell said: ‘There will be stifling temperatures, making it possibly the warmest UK summer on record and placing it at least in the top three warmest summers recorded.

‘ He then went on to predict ‘dry spells with pleasant sunshine’ and said the best time to book a holiday would probably be mid-July. Mr Powell also said: ‘A very warm summer has been on the cards for some years, and the Met Office believed it was likely to happen last year – and people should be able to find a good deal on one after last year’s Met Office forecast.’

The Positive Weather Solutions forecast is:

JUNE: Starts with fine weather. Rain mid-month but temperatures warm to very warm. Changeable later in month with fine conditions although some heavy rain to finish.

JULY: Starts unsettled with some rain, then dry through mid-month with warm to very warm temperatures, lots of sunshine and light breeze. Humid towards end of the month with thunderstorms and possible flash floods.

AUGUST: Thunderstorms quickly replaced by unbroken sunshine which may cause record temperatures. Warm mid-month but broken up by unsettled periods. Good weather towards month end before showery, cooler conditions move in.

Summer 2010 is the best summer to have a Deep End Pool swimming pool installed. We will keep you up to date with the 2010 swimming pool summer campaign.

Deep End Pools Taplow, Berkshire have just had our Top of the range Endless Summer enclosure installed at our Taplow, Berkshire showroom.

The Certikin display swimming pool set up really shows of the quality and level of finish that the Endless Summer Enclosure and Endless Summer Pool has. The Enclosure was installed over a two period allowing for a top quality finish that is second to none.

This is the enclosure in the open position allowing for an open air swimming pool on nice days when you would like to have the feeling of fresh air whilst swimming. As we are in the UK the enclosures closing ability will give most swimming pools a lot longer season and allow for much more usage throughout the year.

This is the enclosure in the closed position. The enclosure will be on the pool longer than it will be off of the swimming pool due to pool being used for demonstration purposes. The enclosure has been designed to offer good bather access around the pool whilst not swimming.

The enclosure has fully bi folding doors that allow you to retract the enclosure of off the swimming pool and have great access in the fron of the building. The is plenty of space around the pool to make this area be useful as a gym area or a place to socialise with friends.

For more information on Swimming Pool Enclosures or for a demonstration please call 01494 681835 or visit are Taplow, Berkshire showroom.
